Joliet plane crash occurred on takeoff

The fiery plane crash that killed a Wisconsin couple at Joliet Regional Airport happened while they were taking off, investigators learned Friday. Stuart D. Seffern, 50, and his longtime partner, Deborah A. Loiselle, 52, died of chest and head trauma, according to Saturday autopsy results.

Lockport runs out of gas at Pontiac

Boys basketball: Lockport simply couldn't keep up with Simeon and fell 44-26 to the Wolverines in the annual Pontiac Holiday Tournament, thus eliminating the Porters with a 1-2 record. The Porters felt the effects of dropping a 32-29 quarterfinal decision on a last-second shot to powerful Warren earlier in the day.

Boys Basketball: Lockport High School boys basketball coach Lawrence Thompson Jr. likes the variety of competition the Pontiac Holiday Tournament has to offer. Case in point: Monday afternoon's 60-57 opening-round victory over Bloomington.
